1987 supra suggestions

im contemplating on switch my tranny to manual
but idk if its a good idea seeing how its pretty costy and i heard a/t with performance upgrades, and a quick shift chip can get fast 1/4 mile runs and keep em steady.

idk, give suggestions on what i should do..

should i just keep my A/T ?
if so, what should i do to it?
im new to supras, but not new to the tuner world..
i need some ideas on what i should do to my car
any suggestions??
