I believe you are talking about the plate that covers the vaccuum operated butterfly in the intake manifold. I thought all n/a years had them. You could put in a 2jz ge but it has to be a rear sump and it is not a total pop it in and go type of thing. My 7mge with intake, header, p&p head and exhaust is by no means that fast. It is an auto though. I've heard the 5spd is more fun. In general the car is just heavy. It still sounds good and gets the looks though as well as everyone tries to race you.

You can use any year of 7mge for your car. Just be shure to use the wiring harness and ecu from your year of vehichle

Well ive seen NA models with some y looking pipe and no plates!

86.5-88 (and some 89's) have different fuel injectors, oil pan/sump, motor mounts, and I'm sure other little things I'm spacing on. 86.5-88's are also balanced externally, whereas 89+'s are balanced internally. If you have a 5 spd, this means you will need a different flywheel if you get an early 7MGE. The 89+'s also were given a lower redline, probably due to the different balancing.

Basically, any 7MGE should drop in. You just may need to swap several components over from your original engine, and make any other adjustments as necessary.

kadinz and wstanek, the OP stated in the first post that they were looking at ordering a 7MGE, not a different engine. Please only post replies that are relative to the OP's question(s).

Okay... I know what the hell you're going on about now... The "Y" pipe is a Supra N/A thing it's part of the modulated intake system which provides torque at lower RPM and load levels. The Cressida (another 7M car) did not have this system and uses a simpler intake system which looks very much like the 7M-GTE's intake setup.

There are two different models of "Y" pipe too... The JDM "Y" pipe does not have the small plate that sits on top of the fork that the North American models do, this is because that small plate (held on with 4 bolts) is an access used in the machining and servicing of the EGR port. The GE has a MUCH more efficient and evenly distributed EGR system than the Cressida and GTE, BTW.

Just pull ur motor and rebuild it with better pistons and rods then swaping it out for a motor that is used

I second this, if it is not horribly damaged. It is generally not recommended to put a JDM engine (or any used engine) in your car without a rebuild. You do not know how the used engine was ran or if there were any previous problems with it, so it is a substantial gamble to just "drop it in".

I'll third. put in what ever you like, but rebuild it.

ok.. so it looks like i just keep my engine and get the parts replaced instead of replacing the engine.. thanks for quick response everyone!
