You have an AFM, not a MAF... To be more specific you have a KVAFM (Karmann Vortex Air Flow Meter)... If you had a MAF that oil was getting on I'd be a little worried. If I had a KVAFM it was getting on I'd be freaking out. First of all, the AFM is upstream of the PCV inlet
(unless you've relocated it), for enough oil be coming out that it's actually pooling you've got serious blowby problems (see: bad rings). Second, that sensor is optical, for the optics and you're replacing it. Start with doing a compression test to see what's going on.
