Default dead spot in throttle...

so from about 1900-2400rpm i have this dead spot in the throttle like it wants to shut off...it acts like a honda with a bad idle air control. It'll rev fine but if ur just cruisin within that rpm range its B.... cuz it keeps engaging and disengaging the throttle...Im replacing the cap and rotor tomorrow its got new plugs and wires already...anything else im missing? maf,cam sensor, distributor?

Set the gap on your plugs so you know that they are all the same

Have you actually tested the signal from the TPS? Test the voltage coming from Vs, should be around .5 closed, 3.5 full open and should sweep steadily between.

grumble...... Post more info about your car, add it to your profile or better yet put it in your sig........ /grumble

Where was I...
Is this a GE or a GTE?

Yeah, to ground... the TPS signal line it VTA, not Vs... I had already moved ahead in my head with the other big possibility:

With a N/A the problem is more likely to be a flat spot in the VAFM's Potentiometer. Test pin Vs there for consistent voltage while opening the vane.

Test both though, they are both wear components... no idea why everyone buys used ones, they do have a limited lifespan.

so guess what i did...i was testing the afm and found that it was bad. Then like a curious cat i decided to pull the actual sensor out. Didnt know it was connected by short wires and pulled two of the circuits clean off the circuit board...So now the car wont start. Anybody have an extra afm for sale or anything. i dont feel like paying 130 for a new one and a four day wait
