the problem definitely was with my connections. I went through again and made secure crimps using butt connectors and heat shrink. wrapped all the connections in electo tape and used male / female connections for the air pressure connections. held my breath and turned the ignition key on. boom got lights. stays on and reads correctly. hopefully the links and diagrams and the trouble i went through will be helpful to someone else as green as me to install this unit correctly.
now to go put my glove box back together . -regards ps. you can clean this up and remove all the ranting. might make a good faq thread.
