Default engine cutting out

well i have a 89 turbo supra with a 60-1 turbo on it and blew the headgasket like 6 years ago and the car has just been sitting till i had time to fix it last week and now the car is cutting out at 3 grand sometimes 4 it feels like it is hitting rev limiter or fuel cut. Does anyone have any suggestions as what to try i have checked all the sparks and injectors they are all working right.

Not trying to hijack your thread, but I am experiencing similar problems where mine cuts out at 4k and sometimes 5. I heavily suspect it has something to do with fuel pressure, but I'm not 100% sure. It's my best guess since I'm not getting any error codes.

What would cause fuel cut off? I'd be really interested in knowing... this problem has plagued me for months.

So I went out and bought a new fuel filter and pump for the hell of it. I'll see if that fixes anything once I put them in this weekend. Oh, just so anyone that reads this doesn't think I'm completely retarded for just blindly buying parts, If I'm running at 3/4 throttle I am able to get the engine to rev up to the redline; the car just feels like it has no power. This is different from when I just punch it. When I do that, the car goes to 4k and just won't rev higher.

Well, I replaced the fuel pump and filter yesterday. Definitely didn't fix anything. So now I'm going to do stuff with my faulty speed sensor and see if that fixes anything. Other than that, I'm out of ideas. I'm starting to wonder if the extra Californian components would be causing this problem since that's where I got the car from...

Default Engine Cutting off

Mostly Its because of Spark thats cutting of your engine, I would recommend you checking out the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor.

this is an old thread.. but w.e lol. I think that your car is in "fail safe mode" Reasons for this could be bad afm, loose, dirty afm connector, boost leak or intake leak. fail safe mode is when ur ecu senses somethings wrong and limits the car to about 3k rpm.... for example an intake leak... unmetered air coming in.. ecu senses somethings up... and puts it in the mode so that you can still drive it to a mechanic without blowing up ur engine.
i suggest pulling codes
