really are you sure?
then again i haven't seen many of thoes are in general being in alberta, and its kinda weird, the guy who im buying it off of only put 1000kms on it.. and just burnt the out something in the clutch trying to get it out of the ice... and it was a brand new clutch, after he did that what other problems should i look out for? cause thats quite a bit of torque being put on everything in the drive train, since the car never moved, and was in there so good it even pulled the toe truck back 2 feet after he tried to rip it out of the ice. |

I've put 60,000km on my 1G, i've run it at 12lb and i've dragged her a few times, only had minor problems.
Clutch is the weakest things in the drivetrain, its the cheapest and easiest to replace, replace it with a hilux clutch (older hilux have the same spline count and same diameter 9" for the NA 9 1/2" for the turbo) its slightly more heavy duty. If you manage to destroy a W58 gearbox with a 1G, you are a champion. Only problems i've had with my 1G is, ignitor pack, alternator, knock sensors and oil seals on my turbos. Oh and she finally broke a camshaft, but at 200,000km a broken lobe on a camshaft is hardly a big issue. But its ultimately up to you, but they are nice cars to drive, a bit of seat time and you will be able to get her moving quite well. |

yeah i don't have any mechanical experience with these cars so, i really think i should get someone else to toss in the clutch but.. she's charging me 1,600 for a double plate carbon fiber clutch,
or 1,200 for a regular one .... and really thoes are the only problems you've had? and yours is a RHD too right? |

Yeap, 1986 GA70 gen1 1GGTEu converted to manual, I'm guessing yours would have the Yamaha head also?.
1,200 American dollars?!?!?! i paid 200NZD (350NZD for a 4puk ceramic) for my clutch, there is no way to justify 1g (or 2g in NZD ) on a clutch replacement. The job is piss basic and i recommend you do it yourself (if you have atleast an ounce of lego experiance ![]() Undo the half dozen bolts on the P/P take it off, pull out clutch, replace clutch , replace release bearing, replace p/p, and repeat the steaps i said above in reverse ![]() While your there i'd replace the crank seal and the seal in the main input seal on the gbox. For technical information on them, its not hard to find, just visit any Australian or New Zealand supra sites. We have a fair few running around. |

Thats $1872.60 NZD (woe is our dollar at the moment).
Thats over 3 times the amount we pay in NZ for a complicated clutch replacement. I suggest getting a workshop manual (go to your library) or a mate with some knowledge and give it a crack, even if you have to buy a complete set of tools (5/8ths socket set and a decent ring spanner set) it'll work out cheaper, and you'll keep the tools and experiance for life ![]() But i have always been the one to jump in and find out by pulling things apart first and consider the consequences later. ![]() |

yeah i know what you mean i do that with computers, but then again i don't put my life in the hands of a notebook,
i just wanted it done right, but i am going down there tomorrow to watch and see how its done, and maybe the next time it blows i'll take a crack at it.. on another note, the guy at the shop said the compression test went very very well, everything in, around, and on the engine is mint, and he's checking the traNNY tomorrow, sofar we have two thumbs up, ( the body-no rust at all, and compleatly straight, and the engine, so things are looking good except for the new tires i need and the clutch |
