First coat of paint went on tonight to the engine bay. Sprayed it down with Gloss Black Rustoleum thinned with mineral spirits. How? Cheap, real cheap. $20 electric paint gun. First coat came out looking pretty good though. Much better looking than it was. Gives me an idea of what it will look like when rolled on the car. Going to shoot another coat tomorrow during the day. Want the engine bay painted asap so the motor can be fitted and welded in.

Engine bay is done. Paint is on and it looks infinitely better than the mess that it once was. Going to let that dry for a day or 2 then position the engine / tranny down in.
The shifter is bolted to the floor in the pic. Still needs a piece of carpet between the seats and under the shifter. Shifter required some fabrication to mount it right where I wanted. Some cutting, grinding, drilling and welding on 3 pieces of steel, then bolted to the car using factory holes. |
