Default Blower motor not working HELP!!!

I have an 89 MK3 turbo...which i purchased, and the blower motor has never worked. Now that winter is upon us I need it to defrost the windshield. I was just wondering if you guys had any input on where to START to try to get this up and running....any input would be greatly appreciated. Are there relays, fuses, plugs from the harness that i should check??? and also is there a way to test to see if it is the motor itself and not some kind of missing plugs. Thx!

Some useful info here Link and Link. I would start by looking at the resistors, they are a very simple open coil design, its quite common for one of the coils to go open circuit which would result in one of the fan speed settings not working. Ok not the same problem as you have with no blower at all, but worth checking just in case all three have gone.

if the resistors are no good the fan should still work on high speed, but check them anyway...be very careful removing them as it is very easy to damage them. try hooking 12v's up to the motor and see if the motor is still good then check the switch for any burn marks

I have several used MKII blowers for sale if that helps. You could do a part # search to see if it's the same. First , do the direct 12V hookup, though.

problem fixed fellas, it was a combination of both a burnt out resistor plus a dead blower motor....took your tips and went straight to the junkyard and purchased both items for $25. Fan Motor had about a pound of pine needles and leaves in it after opening it, it was shot. Once again...thx !
