My tranny does something similair. If I'm at a dead stop in drive, and I give it gas, it just slips a bunch until I get to about 30MPH. I found out that if I start the car in "L", and then put it into "D" after I'm already going, there is no more slipping making me think mine is a more electrical issue (possibly solenoids or the ECT, etc...). Does your Tranny slip in "L" as well?
