I think fiberglass doesnt hold very well over large surfaces like a hood, plus (don't quote me on this) I think fiber glass doesn't like heat much or something, anyway, there's a reason why saturns still use metal hoods but can't remember why.....
uh, thats why corvettes are made with fiberglass. the whole body except the bumpers are made of fiberglass, since the 60s.

no, and no. and a awd DSM would win to. trust me. haha, i have a awd turbo talon....and i got whipped by a stock wrx, and barely beat by an srt-4 (might have been modded slightly) and my DSM owns my supra even when my pops is driving it. the supra out runs them all on the highway though just about. the wrx has pretty good top speed and so does the talon, but doesnt handle near as well has the fat biatch that the supra is.

yes and no. a stock wrx runs high 14s and the srt runs low 14s. my old tibby would keep next to stock wrxs and she clock'd 92mph @ 15.5 in the quarter. on the street or roll i would take the wrx or they'd be next to me, the srt would start to pull once we were in 4th. as for my supra, shes way faster than my tib and has much better top end power. i should have some timeslips from the track before the end of the month.

SRT-4 is a tough race, about eh same power, and they're lighter, but being FWD they tend to spin instead of launch. I got an SRT-4 on the bottom end from a light, but I had to turn off before I finished the race :/

The supras are built to drive at high speeds for long periods of time, the reason they weigh so damn much is to increase handling at high speeds amongst other reasons relating to the performance of the car combined with it's ability to be TOTALLY AWESOMLY FAST!!! if the car was light it would get to a high speed and do what alot of drag cars do and poof! it's in the air, lol...

i bought my 87 turbo last thursday in Edmonton. drove it back to Vancouver (12+hours). I made it in exactly 10 hours to the ferry to Vancouver Island. these cars are FAST stock. well I do have a 3" stainless exhaust and K&N filter.

I had the speedo buried at 155mph.. 245km/h. it wanted to go faster, but since I had only been driving it for an hour or so at this point, I figured that was fast enough for the first day. I dont trust the tires on it much anyways. when I get the new ones mounted Ill take it back up there. 8 )

the mk3 turbo has about 262hp factory and they actulaly weigh about 350-400lbs less then whoever quoted u above ...the must have used the GVW which is the vechile under full load ie all passagers and cargo. if yours has the targa top his guesstimit is probaly right the casis is heavier do to toyota trying to stiffen the casis when the targa is removed.
