KS code, and no KS connector?

ok i got my 89 n/a auto all back together after changing the bhg i bought it with, and it has a knock sensor code. i could see the sensor, bu i dont think my car even has the plug for it. my haynes manual shows some resistor on the driver side shock tower area that it runs too, but their is no resistor their. is it missing? is that plug in the wiring harness? i looked at some threads but they were about the KS location. any help is appreciated. would the code be the reason the car aslo has less get up and go than i think it should, i read that the code retards the timing since its unable to detect if its too aggresive or not..

anybody? well i guess ill just run a whole new wire and connector then or something.

I'm guessing here, but that sensor may only be applicable to certain models of the car. Easiest way is to use your VIN and call up Toyota Service (or Parts) and ask if the sensor is applicable to your car. Or.. failing that, include the year/make/model/engine here, so we can help you in case some dont actually have it. There were different versions of the same model.

I believe all of the 7M's have knock sensor's... N/A cars have 1, Turbo's have 2. Some previous owner may have hacked it and cut out the plug for some reason (some people do some pretty stupid stuff). Your best bet would probably be to go to a junkyard and cut and splice the connector in (and get that resistor pack you were talking about) or look on eBay for a donor harness and do the same.

no resistor on the shock tower, the haynes manual is trash. get that ks working otherwise the ecu will pull timing and make the car run funny. you might also want to rewire it back to the ecu with some insulated wire to keep code 52 from popping up randomly.

its a 1989 auto n/a i think its the secnod half of the year after the cross over or whatever lol. ya the one ime ive drivin it, it seems to very little get up and go, esp in low gear. i planned to just rewire it to the ecu to be safe, becuase i finally fixed all the vac. leaks (melted my "resonator" on intake cuz the header has no sheild, fixed that lol, and rock hard ijector seats.) guess ill just have to put the new sensor wire in then. in the rewire write up, im confused why is their a ground wire strap if that outer braided winding is hooked to anyhting on the ecu? or did i just miss somethin lol. thanks fo th help guys, im not a car idiot:eek3:, (i know noone said that, just stating it) i just wasnt sure about this subject.
