Default newbie... any advice for beefing my car up

i'm getting my first supra tonight. have never had one of these cars. allways been into the old muscle cars. so i'm hoping i can get some good tips on what i can do to modify this car. it's a 86 5speed. the guy i'm getting it from says it's at 8 lbs of boost right now. any thoughts on upgrades. i can sink a couple thousand for the motor. i'm not worried about 600hp but if i can get 350hp to 400hp i'd be a happy camper. the guy i'm getting this from tell me i can go 450hp on stock internals... is that true? any advice is greatly appreciated. thank you

brian

anybody know of a good shop that works with these engines in the michigan area? i should have it all painted and customized the way i want it by winter and then i'm thinking i might just drop it off at a good tuner shop and let them have fun with it. any info would be great, thanks.

ya i would just hate to buy a bunch of things/spend the money and then realize i should have done all different. it would be nice to be able to take it to someone who has worked with these engines before. i'v never done anything with a turbo motor. i dont want to do damage, i bought a boost controller and i dont even understand what it really does lol lol give me a carburator and a big cam and i do ok lol lol
