Alright guys I found it and ran it to the fire wall. where when you pull on the cable, it will move it is very lose. I don't know if the guys hooked it up with the motor swap a little while ago. But I just started driving it again 2 weeks ago after the swap. Is this possible they did not hook it up or being lose is it being broken? If it is broken do you have to buy the part at Toyota?
if it's broken you will have to replace, as for buying from Toyota I would suggest looking for a used one...
Do you know where any used ones or a place that has a lot of supra parts? I have looked for scrap yards around my area, not much with supra.
just ask in the parts for sale section here....
I have found out it is the cable. Will a 87-89 turbo speedometer cable work on a 88 non turbo? I have found 2 used ones for sale but both are for the turbo car.
as for as I know it will work but i am not 100% sure....

I think this is what you want. Replacing speedometer cables on 1987 MKIII Turbo Supra - Supracentral

Hi Guys,
Is that possible that the speedometer cable may produce bad squealling sound? It soulds like it does it in my case but the speedometer is working just fine... Is there any way to lubricate the cabe? Thanks! Serge |
the lubrication was done using standard motor oil and after that the noise is gone....

i have an 87 supra turbo, and the speedometer doesnt work, but the odometer still reads and works. doesnt the odometer work off of the speedocable? if so, what would cause the speedometer not to work, but still allow the odometer to function properly?
