picking the right thickness isn't as important as having a perfectly smooth block .
the thickness really matters when the head has been shaved once or twice already in order to compensate for the material thats been shaved off you add more thickness to the gasket so if the head has never been cut before you can go with the thinner gasket . get the idea ?
