Default overdrive doesn't work

the light doesn't turn on and it just doesn't work, what could be the problem?? on the highway im sittin @ 3500rpm's at 80mph.

also..can anyone tell me where the positive wire for the fuel pump is, i wanna make a fuel pump switch.
edit: since i bought the car the overdrive hasn't worked, the light has never turned on either.

3500 is about right for 80. If it was in third it would be alot higher rpm. Maybe the switch to turn it on/off is broken or the light in the dash is burned out. If you where going 80 in third the engine would be racing.

yeah but 3500 is ridiculous! i mean..the engine is already screaming at me, i just checked..these come with stock 410 or whatever big gears dont they, thats just not right.....

It's a 4 speed and for a car made over 20 years ago it's pretty good. Its only been recently that more gear autos have come along. My 6 speed celica runs around the same speed at 80, but it does readline at 8k though.
