I have had the conversion done. Apart fom the different cross member and if your going from non turbo, upgrading your gearbox and clutch, there was no real problems.

there's an awesome source right there

i haven't had personal experience in swapping in a 1j just yet... i work on genuine jza70's heh

there is a company that is making solid engine mounts for the 1jz.. i believe to even possibly fit into the pre 89 crossmember so you don't need to swap that in

but if ya can't find the mounts....

crossmember
engine
7mgte 5sp box
1jz bellhousing
if non turbo it is suggested to swap in a 3.9 diff rather than keep your 4.5 or 4.3 whichever ones you have there
power steering, you will need to swap some in.. i believe most are using 2jz power steering lines? (Alby what did you use)
ecu
engine harness (make sure you get the engine harness and ecu from the same 1jz vehicle... soarers and supras use different harnesses and ecus)
if you find a soarer 1jz, find yourself some jza70 engine mount brackets (ones that bolt on the block) as soarers sit higher and further forward than jza70's
and some wiring diagrams which www.1jz-gte.us should have
good soldering ability and electrical knowledge

and good luck with the swap

hey when you swap the engines out.... does the 1jz come with an egr valve and a knock sensor with the engine... i was talking to a local mechanic about it and he said that all that stuff is important in american driven cars and without them there would be many timing and fuel problems.

How hard would it be to do a 2JZA swap from a 1JZ into an 88? Why not just op for that engine instead of the 2.5L? Wouldn't the trouble be worth the displacement, turbos, and small engine differences?
Please help because I'm seriously considering the 2JZA engine and scouting out different vendors for this engine, wiring harness, and ECU.
Do I need to look for the 89+ crossmember in order to directly bolt in the block?

Do you have to use the Ijz bell housing to use the 7mge tranny?
