I would focus on the headgasket first. My supra only had 60K when it blew it's head gasket. Get ARP bolts and a stock toy head gasket and you should be cool, unless you want to run massive boost then I'd get the HKS metal HG. It's a pretty common deal with the supra's, the headbolts were only torqued at 58 lbs. ft. when they should have been 75 lbs. from the factory. They tend to loosen up over time and the gasket wears out, normally in the #6 cylinder. Toyota should have issued a recall on it like they did with the v6 pickups.

the headgasket and intake, a good ecu, maybe some new 50w oil and some stp. that will help you out a little. do some light weight deduction. replace some of your old piping and exuast and your car should be faster. i saw some intake parts (custom intake parts) at pepboys but its really low quality, i guess it does the same thing. its not metal its cheap plastic. thats a cheap way to get a custom intake

When i first bought my supra (it's an 88) it had a very small exhast leak that i decided to get fixed. Even though it was a small leak it was a enough to make my car sound like crap. For about $130 i got a custom exhast that not only looked and sounded way better, it sure felt like i was getting more horse power too. Im not sure if i had any thing blocking or resisting my exhast but i think the $130 was well worth it.

I agree, the 7mgte responds very well to exhaust mods. The stock piping is too restrictive. I bought my supra with a 3" muffler and it looks like 2 3/4" piping already on it and i've whooped other stock turbo supras. It could be their driving but I've blown them out so it looks like any driver could of done the same. plus it sounds good!

i'll be doing the CAI next if i can find a good write up so I can just but the right angled tubes from the store, then possibly headers.

im pretty much in the same situation. Anyone know of a quite exhaust that can still roar when i floor it in my 89 turbo. Another question if i add a cold air intake, would i have to retune the car??? Also what is the max power i can put inot the car without haveing to replace the gasket or forge the pistons?

I have this on my 1j, can't tell its on at idle or cruise. Step on it hard and it sounds mean. It doesn't look like the picture either, its an oval canister.

Default nITROUS FAKE? I DONT THINK SO ! LOL

cOME ON GUYS ! LOL Nitrous is the ultimate to top off your ride when youve maxed out all the power you gona get out of it !

Like mine for example . Its f...en fast and when im about to win or someone thinks they are going to blow right by me,,,, i think not ! You hit that NOS and its bye bye Baby ! What a rush ! Power when you need it !

Otherwise, a few bolt on inexpensive way to build some power,

Port Polish the head, do a 3 angle valve job, get an exhaust manifold or header with a cat back exhaust and some cam gears, maybe upgrade the fuel pump to walbro255 lph a fuel pressure regulator, lightwheight flywheel, light rims. Upgrade the fuel rail and injectors... I think this would be a great start !

Good luck and hang in there. these Supras are fun !
