Default 82 EFI clogged fuel filter?

Hello, I have a 1982 supra LS with the fuel injection. It ran OK until sitting for several weeks, but now it will try to start... the engine "catches" and runs for about a second, then stalls, usually with a couple of backfires.

When I remove the air intake and spray starter fluid, I can keep the engine running, so it must be a problem in fuel delivery.

Anybody have any suggestions as to how to fix this problem... or even what to be looking at?

Thanks,
Terry

if you believe this to be a fuel problem your looking at a fuel filter clamped to the block under your intake manifold. and a screen/filter in the tank. i will put my money on the tank filter. there is also the chance of a third somewhere in the lines. you never know what some people have put in....

this should help you. but remember things will be different as the manual is for an 86 and you have the 82.
