Help!!! Over heating

IT over heated numerous times yesterday. I pulled over to let it cool.

I bought new hoses, raditor cap, thermostat, flush kit, oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plugs.

I assume the theromstat is where the top hose goes into the engi80'sne.

Can anyone confirm it???

I have a old timing light from the 80's.

How to do time my 1986 (like a 1985 model).

I learn real quick at the parts store to ask for 1985.

Does anyone have a pdf file of an owner's manual and tear manual.

Thnak you in adavance.

Lessons learn with my car....

When I got the autoparts store like Advance auto, I have to ask for parts for a Toyota Supra 1985 not 1986. The 1986, they give me 1986-1/2 Supra parts that way different.

Right now I am flushing out my cooling system, as require drive with the flush system for about 6 hours.

I have another question. I will be on another thread about bvsv (broke the plastic). Do I really need it replaced? I just bypass it for now.:umno:

Now is it overheating witha theromstat in it. It is a stock one at 195.

Someone on this site or another forum stated that you have to put the plastic pan underneath for proper cooling.

Is this true?

Found out it is the clutch fan

Replacing it with a electrical fan possible gain of 10 hp.

Could be a head gasket or a radiator?

I have a 16" and 10" on the radiator now and still is over heating.

I replace the water pump, theromstat (165 degree). Still over heating.

The next thing is a radiator.

If not I hear that the head gasket gets a pin hole in it and all the hot gas boils the fuild.

Not oil in the coolant, and no coolant in the oil.

I am still puzzled.

Suggestions if possible.

depending on how many miles are on your car, you may be looking at head gasket problems.

check under your oil cap for milky oil. and check your rad for oil, and get a compression check:

if you are under 128 psi in any cylinders it needs replacing, and if any cylinders psi differ over 14 psi it also needs replacing.

beware of a cracked cylinder head. its happened to me.
