87hilux7mge 07-24-2011 09:51 PM

ur gonna use the w58? u r crazy man. i think that trans will grenade in the first week with that kinda powny power behind it...if it were mine it would at least.

why not use the r154?

CanadianBak'inSupra 08-26-2011 01:48 PM

haha, im keeping my eye out for a r154, because hey of course do make an adapter for it aswell.

as of right now i have 2 w58s, so once the first one pops i will start to look for the r154.

plus "some" people seem to think the w58 will withstand 300 horses, for how long im not sure...

87hilux7mge 08-26-2011 06:35 PM

lol, it might withstand 300 horses at 10k rpms (4age status man!) yea im just thinking that low end tq is gonna grenade that thing.

guess if you got ammo to throw at it and u can change trannies quick then thats good till you find an r154:bigthumb:

CanadianBak'inSupra 09-04-2011 03:19 PM

haha yea hopfully the w58 withstands at least 5 burnouts.... then i will be happy until i get a r154

87hilux7mge 09-04-2011 06:59 PM

5 burnouts sounds like a good target haha. i picked up another eaton m62 at the pull n save the other day. im thinkin twin m62's on a 2uz would be fun.

CanadianBak'inSupra 09-26-2011 02:33 AM

haha sweet...

CanadianBak'inSupra 09-26-2011 02:35 AM

my engine bay is almost ready for paint. hitting it with a scotch brite some more.

gona paint my trans. black aswell, my adapter plate was sent out on 22nd so it shouldnt be too long for that..

87hilux7mge 10-04-2011 03:51 AM

its all lookin slick bakin'. keep it up man! i got a line on a 2uz up here, might try to pick that up for a later swap :bigthumb:

CanadianBak'inSupra 10-07-2011 11:54 PM

got my adapter plate the other day.
also i have decided to go with a carb.

CanadianBak'inSupra 11-18-2011 01:44 PM

going with a custom intake manifold carb. and coil packs with ford edis8 ignition.
also ordered up some new w58 shifter bushings from billym on celicasupra.com 49$CAD comes to my door

87hilux7mge 11-18-2011 05:15 PM

boo on the carb. efi would be so much nicer. get MS2 or 3, only a lil more than the carb and manifold will run prolly, and youll get more power, better drivability, plus you dont have to run EDIS if you dont want. can run some individual coil packs from a caddy, dodge, mitsu, etc... thats what im doin.

ms2, relay board, wiring harness and all the data cables runs about 560 bux.

CanadianBak'inSupra 11-19-2011 02:45 PM

na, i think im going to buy another mk2 supra and start a 7mgte build possibly...
i want my 1uz to be carb, its not about achieving more power in the end or being more efficient, carb, and edis8 with coil packs, and my engine will only need 3 wires to run, plus the engine looks so sexual with just a block and heads...
check out the pictures of 1uz's:
http://www.gt40s.com/forum/rcr-forum...e-ideas-4.html

87hilux7mge 11-27-2011 05:23 AM

true i guess. a simple setup is nice, but id still keep the EFI. poor fuel distribution through a carb and improper manifold can grenade an engine quick..

but hey it will probably work, gonna be a high rpm motor for sure! thinking a 500 edelbrock or 550 demon carb would be pretty sexy and perform the crap out of that thing.

CanadianBak'inSupra 12-11-2011 03:21 PM

found some engine mounts finally. i havnt much time during the week to fab up 1uz to ma61 mounts so this is really going to help:

http://www.ksracing.net/forums/index.php?topic=7546.0
these guys sell flywheels and bell housing that uses the w58's fork and slave cylinder.
gona have to go flywheel from these guys because i have still got got mine from quantum auto :(

but on the up side i can get edis8 kits ready to go for cheap
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/EDIS-8-Igniti...item1c21a8e9fd

87hilux7mge 12-11-2011 08:06 PM

nice! ive got an edis8 module but no crank trigger wheel. im not gonna use it though. they are a pretty good system, and simple as all get out.

stoked to see that thing in the sup and running. scurrin ppl!

edis8 should be here real soon.
gona start savin for a carb now.:x:

CanadianBak'inSupra 01-18-2012 01:29 PM

edis8 came with coil packs plug wires pigtails, each coil pack came with its own cps also got a 36-1 crank gear.
basically i should have it all wired together real soon, and hopefully mounted on or in the engine bay.

87hilux7mge 01-18-2012 04:14 PM

score! local pull n save here has a crap ton of those old EDIS units around. i have one, but donno what ill use it on. since im running MS and individual coil packs, it wont work for me. how much did you spend if you dont mind my asking?

figure you should have gotten a pretty good deal on it! im pretty excited to see this thing going, love that 1uz sound:crazy2:

CanadianBak'inSupra 01-18-2012 11:23 PM

70 USD.
also im waiting for my pacesetter header for my samurai :grinking:

When you go on tour with her look me up.... PLEASE!

I really do know better than to ask with projects like this, but as you've already come so far, do you have any idea how much longer it will take?

CanadianBak'inSupra 02-19-2012 03:06 AM

still lots to do... but with winter almost gone! i get to work on her more and more!
i have so much crap on my plate this year... if it takes another 4 months i will go crazy...
i need to buy a carb, and get a manifold fabricated.
full exhaust.
gona try another kit for w58, quantum auto shit the bed badly... but they did come through with a flywheel!
i need these too:

CanadianBak'inSupra 03-20-2012 12:20 PM

picked up a 5L oil filter adapter and fittings yesterday. just have to buy lines and i got an oil filter. one step closer!

cre 03-20-2012 08:33 PM

Slowly but surely.... I bet that's going to be a scream when it's done. I wish I had the time and money for a project like this. It's more the lack of funds holding me back.

CanadianBak'inSupra 03-22-2012 01:10 AM

considering buying a clutch real soon just so i can bolt all my drive train together...
on the topic of carbs, i think a holley avenger would be a nice pick. any one have any experience with carbs??

CanadianBak'inSupra 03-29-2012 12:31 PM

just a sneak peak. was originally planning on buying a holley avenger series carb. but then i seen these babies http://www.ebay.ca/itm/44-IDF-Weber-...item43ae88bcc1

4 weber idf downdraft carbs will be awesome...:dance:

almost done with my charging and starting system wiring. the funny thing is, the alternator plug on my ma61 appears to be exactly the same as the 91 ls400 plug, it just plugs in. i will check the wires later to be sure its the same internally. going to lordco today to buy new battery terminals and ground cable. i really want to buy some nice electric, heat, and oil pressure gauges.
kinda sucks, completion date is gona be set back again...:dunno: gona have to get a blower in a vehicle real soon. :frown: damn DUI...

CanadianBak'inSupra 03-13-2013 05:13 PM

Nearing the end of my corolla project. And have started prepping for the 92 1uzfe with under 50k miles I purchased through ebay. Complete with wiring ecu and auto trans for 1500usd. My orig 1uz just turned into a spare. Have my eye on a drop in alum welded griffin rad. Then I only need a ps cooler batter clutch and front drive shaft. This new 1uz will be run stock for now. Hoping to get it next week and running shortly after. Already have a good fuel pump for in the tank. Pictures soon

CanadianBak'inSupra 03-25-2013 01:38 AM

thats right. i got another one. decided on a more complete motor, lower miles, newer with slightly higher hp numbers. its a 1996 so its got cast fuel rails, new ecu lighter pistons and rods, and a plastic boddied kvafm also no egr.
