86 Supra engine removal
Can the engine be removed without pulling the 5 speed transmission too? What has to be done to free the engine from the manual transmission? The book says remove them together but I don't see why.
Thanks, Bill |

Because it's utterly miserable. The higher you get on the bell housing the harder it is to get to the bolts. I don't think it's a killer, but you still have to unbolt the transmission hanger, remove the drive shaft, get a tranny jack under the transmission.... I think you get the picture. It really is easier and quicker to pull it all (at least that's how most of us feel). |

agreed, in the long run. pulling trans and engine will take less time.
it does not take much time to remove the drive shaft. |

Jdm 7mge
The JDM engine I'm looking at is listed as 87-92. Will it fit my 86.5 Supra. Also, they recommend chaging the oil pick up and pump. What's the reason?
Thanks! |
