1986 automatic problem

I have a 1986 supra with 123,xxx miles on it. The automatic wont shift any higher then first and the reverse wont work. When in reverse it sounds like its still in neutral and when in drive it will only go up to about 40 mph which is almost at 6000 RPM. If I press the over drive button it does not change anything but the light does turn on and off.

Also the sun roof will not work. I can slide it open and fight to get it closed with my hands but the button wont make it open or close. You can here a very faint click when trying to open it with the button and when clicking the button on the close side of the switch it feels like the switch is not going far enough to make it work.

The rear whensheld wiper does not work. You can also here a faint click when you press the button.

Another thing is that the runing lights will not work properly. It is just the inner side of both of them that will not turn on. However when the nighttime lights are on the outer lights on the running lights will work. ??

I was wondering how I could fix these problems.

I would love to get this car up and running. Its been a dream of mine to own a MkII Supra.

i would point you in the direction of a 5speed w58 trans.
i dont know much about auto, and 5speeds are what most people like maby.
easy to diagnose and get working.


start by checking all fuses and fuse able links. then try your lights.

as for sunroof and wiper. could be the motors, could be stripped gears...
