Yes the KA is a good platform, and it CAN make alot of power but not without alot of things adressed. An sr make 205 crank HP not WHEEL hp. At 7 psi, a stock KA at 7 psi will make around 230-250 hp with upgraded fuel pump, injectors, arp head studs, multi-layer head gasket, and a decent tune. If your aiming for 500 hp on a KA it will have to be very well prepared an you will be spending much more than it would cost than a SR swap, but it would be worth the extra money! Lol just my 2 cents, having owned 6 240sx's, all KA, 2 were KA-T. And i'm in the process of building a nasty KA-T w/ holset hx-35 turbo

we had a kid come in he had a turbo kit off ebay some injectors and a safc2 he made 230whp stock headbolts gasket bottom end everything with 100k on it and a volvo turbo off an old wagon lol it was a haggard mess but youcant deny power like that

For the same amount of money as it would cost to build a proper KA24de-t engine, you could probably find a Ca18det or sr20det and still make about the same amount of power. Just my $.02, that's all I meant about the ca18 being better than ka24.
