Default Toyota Supra vs. Mazda Rx7

Which car do you think handles drifting better? The Supra or the Rx7? Obviously we're all Supra fans here, but what exactly about it stands out among it's competitors for you?

Supra

vs.

Rx7

As much as I like the supra's, and I own a mk3. I think a RX7 would spank the supras in many races. Either autocross, drifting, and many courses that have alot of turning. They are light weight with so much power. They rev crazy high, and are very balenced. The only problem with the supras are they are so heavy, now stright line racing and in many strights the supra would kill the RX7 but drifting probaly not so much. I know most of the talent is the driver but if car alone. I think the RX7 would win. This is just an oppion! so please no one slam me, or give me a weigy in the hall ways haha.

@suprabahamut

Interesting and thanks for the info about the cars. That makes sense that about the Supra killing on a straight line.

Anyone else have an opinion?

supra is less maneuverable. RX-7 would probably beat it in a drift.

I'm a member of RX7V8.com, Toyotasupra.com, and Supramania.com's forums. The RX7 is much lighter, handles better, more maneuverable and would spank the Supra in an autocross. The main fault with the RX7 is the engine. The wankel rotary, even turbo charged, is pretty pathetic. The Supra is much faster in a drag race scenario. Being that the RX7's engine is such a turd, makes it an excellent candidate for the V8 swap. Several RX7's of all generations have been converted.

I have a 1987 Toyota Supra that I converted to a 350 / 700R4 Chevy engine. My first option was to convert my 1983 RX7 Convertible. I know, they didn't make a convertible that year, it was a custom job. However, the RX7's rotary still works and the 7M did not.

I own a Supra too but I would have to agree with you guys that the RX7 is the wiser option when it comes to drifting.

RX-7 in hard low gear cornering would win, supra is a top end car it will win on sweeping turns and straights. RX-7 is really agile but not very stable, very twitchy under heavy wheel spin due to its weight. Supra is far more stable and sturdy making it very controllable under any circumstance, just moves slower through tight turns. Proper tuning both cars have about the same potential in all types of circuit driving. They both just shine at different points in a race, or drift ;p
