1988 toyota supra smoking problem

well i have a 88 toyota supra turbo with the stock 7mgte motor. it starts up great and sounds great the only problem with it that it smokes like heck, there are no knocks or sounds coming from it

any ideas please post

smoking problem... a guess...

firstly, it is good that there is no knocks and sounds coming from the engine, but even though it starts great, and sounds great, unfortunately it doesn't mean it is great. your problem sounds like it's the piston rings... they may be worn and the engine oil is blowing by & being burnt in the combustion and sent out through the exhaust.... therefore the reason for the smoke. hope this helps.

Yeah I agree I think your piston rings are going bad I had that problem on my 94 celica a while back

hey bud try ur valve cover gaskets and also the valve stem seals mine was doin it it i replaced them both and started running royal purple synthetic oil mine doesnt smoke anymore
