springs went between the fan and the end of the zip tie. They're used to create tension i guess. Worked out well i think. I just used my dads grinder to take about a 1/4 inch off the top of the rubber bushings. Install was pretty easy. I used a 3/8 inch threaded plug for the bottom hole and some tread sealer. It started leaking when i put coolant in it so i really cranked the hell out of that thing. Right now the fans are wired to pull air our of the engine bay so i still have to switch around the wires yet.
