The light on your dash only goes on when your reovoir is empty. If its full, Either the switch or wiring attached to it is not working right. And yah, fill up your radiator. The resovoir should ideally be about half full when the car is cold, If it gets higher or lower you have a problem. Try these out first. You never mentioned if the temperature on your car goes up or down...So i cant give you any advice on that part.
