Couple of questions

probly a boost leak

take it for a test drive away from ur friend.. pull over... check all intercooler pipes and do a diagnostic... find the problem
if it is a boost leak... fix it... test drive it, if it's sweet.. pull over.. unfix it... take it back... buy it LOL

also check the ignition timing

but do a block check and compression test just to see the engines health
