As much as I like the fact that the Mkiv Supra Turbo can run 7s, I hope Toyota doesn't lose sight of the fact that the Supra is ... at its heart ... a roadrace vehicle. In order to get an Mkiv Supra into the 7s, you have to remove and reengineer a lot of what makes a Supra...a Supra. To me, the Mkiv Supra should be remembered for it's wins and placings at Pike's Peak, JGTC, and other roadracing events (eg. OneLap), instead of anything to do with drag racing or being strapped down to a dyno. This is a chassis that was designed and built to turn corners FAST, and to drive hard for hours at a time (i.e. not just go straight for a few seconds). I've got nothing against solid-axle 'foxbody' Mustangs, but if all I want to do is dragrace that's the platform I'd choose...not a stripped down $75K GT sportscar. Just mho...

About 99.9+% of the time, private help requests end up covering great information that could be very valuable to other forum members. If you have a good reason for needing the help request to be private, I'll consider it. If not, then why not give everyone else the opportunity to pitch in too, and/or learn from the information? That last video isn't a "Supra" or Toyota/Lexus design... It was a third party estimation as to what a new Supra might look like given Toyota's current design trends.

Now when it comes to the Lexus LF-A, I disagree with the thought that they've destroyed the look. The Supra had gone through a number of radical face lifts and this has been the cry of many with each revision. I think it's a step up (perhaps a bit too far though)... I like some angles to my cars.

While I too would've liked to see a new I6 powerplant I'm glad they didn't give in and just make a watered down shadow of what the car used to be; I say this IF the LF-A is to be the replacement for the Supra.

Default supra needs to stay in sync.

The Mk2. Toyota developed that car with the Europeans (lotus). It was a wonderful car and sold more of them than anything. The mk4's were developed by the help of the Germans. It was an engineering Marvel and performed better than Toyota has ever built. I think now, even now, Toyota needs to stick to that formula and make a car with the help of the Italians, maybe. It shouldn't be a straight line car at all. And they definitely need to leave room for the weekend tinkerers. The next supra will definitely have to be impressive and it can't be over engineered like the perfectly sound LFA. (I need to feel brave driving it)

i would love to see a new supra keep road raceing heritage becuase thats what it should do best. im SOOOOOO happy to see toyota back in the prtotype1 in lemans series again, this to me shows "we want to get back to raceing and this shows if we put our minds to it we make a woundefull product". my only complaint is that both the new prototypes are out of comision for the moment

i want to see a new GT-1 and who knows maby a new supra will do it

The FR-S is not a supra. It is modeled after the 86 Corolla rear wheel drive 4 cylinder.

This is the most up to date article May 2012 I have found on the supra. Now don't get confused when they say FT-HS. That is not the FR-S (FT-86)

Well looking at the FR-S, toyota doesn't need help in the handling department and looking at the mk4 they can handle the high power part as well. I think they should really make it (stats wise) like the fr-s but add a decent amount more hp. If they did make one I'd probably still take the FR-s over the new supra because of what it is, its going to be just as if not more legendary then the mazda miata.
