IHateHacks' 87 Supra
Well its finally road worthy so I figured i'd share some pics. I bought this car in August 2005 with 120,301 miles on it and it went from this-

It must have been rebuilt before I got it because it uses no oil and doesn't even make the faintest ticking like a 120K mile toyota usually does. Im very pleased with my Toyota! |

Thanks! Yea I find myself washing it every 2 days. Im sure our paths will cross some day.

Im in the process of installing gauges in my supra, I really should of installed an EGT and wideband gauge when I had the turbo off but I was in too much of a rush to complete the job that my mind wasnt right.
Anyways Im installing a water temp, oil pres, and boost gauges and keeping all the stock ones. Its going to be a custom setup since I cant find any gauge kits for 87-92 supras. Yes I know it looks ghetto but I still have 2 more gauges to install and put a finish coat on my little custom panel. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...e/DSC00503.jpg http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...e/DSC00505.jpg |
Just installed the water temp gauge, with a 180 degree thermostat it runs 185-190 on the street and 195 on the highway. Does this sound normal? Still running the stock gauge also. 2 down 1 to go.

where did you get the piping for you intake??
|
why are you installing H2O temp, oil pressure, and boost gauge when you've already got it on your dash??
|
Because the stock ELECTRIC gauges are inaccurate and unreliable even after replacing stock sending units, and boost, coolant temp and oil pres. are the most important. I am contemplating installing an oil temp instead of pressure thats why it isnt in yet.
The gauges you see pictured are mechanical. That means there is actual boost going to that gauge and actual hot coolant going to that other one. |
very nice, can see many hours have gone into this car.
on the side, why keep the stock gauges? why not replace them with your new ones? |
