Product Review: AEM Dry Flow Filter 3" by 5"
Part # 21-203DK
The plan is to install this filter with the LIPP air filter adapter. I will add more to the review later once i get it installed. LIPP adapter has not made it here yet Product was ordered off Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more for ~41$ i used the free shipping option and received the product 3 days after ordering. Package came with the filter, a metal clamp and 2 AEM stickers. The dry air filter will help protect the AFM or MAF sensor from damage. I have read a few times on this forum and others that after cleaning there K&N filter the oils ended up damaging there MAF. So i decided to go with the AEM Dry Flow Filter. Product claims to have a initial filter efficiency of 98.4% with cumulative effect of 99.4%. They compare it to other filters that have 93-95% initial efficiency and only 96-98% cumulative. It is available in two colors white and gray, however i did not get a choice in the matter as to which color. Was expecting grey since all the pictures i saw of the product where all gray and i got white :eek3:. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...owoverview.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...owsideview.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...lowtopview.jpg I will update this probably next week sometime when i receive the LIPP adapter and post more information as far as performance/sound. |
Good choice, the dry mesh filter had the better result.

Too bad they didnt test out the AEM im sure it has similar results with the APEXI

Was very simple to remove the airbox and current filter and replace with the lipp adaptor and AEM filter.
I can now hear a low whistle while in low rpms, however soon as i go over about 3000 my engine is too loud to hear it anymore. Its seemed to add a decent amount of hp, and become more responsive overall. Previously i had the K&N drop in filter installed. http://usera.imagecave.com/mkiii_supra/lippadaptor.jpg http://usera.imagecave.com/mkiii_sup...pinstalled.jpg http://usera.imagecave.com/mkiii_supra/aemdryflow.jpg |
Do you know what the outlet diameter is of that filter?
Nevermind, I found it. It's 3". The 202DK is 2.75" which is what I need. |
