Could be a bad O/D switch on the shifter. You'll want to pull the console panel where the shifter is and replace the shifter bushings (Toyota, cheap part to fix it), makes a world of difference if...

I personally wouldn't touch it, but that's just me. I have zero experience with transmissions other than cussing them though I've encountered competent owner/mechanics who've rebuilt their's without...

I can't help you with the 1G year question, but it's the 7M series which is (fairly or unfairly depending on your perspective) known for blown head gaskets. I've never heard of the 1G having that...

Given the relative rarity of the '92 Supra no way would I molest it by doing that engine swap, even to an engine which is arguably more reliable than the 7M.

If it was me, I'd do some serious...

The 86.5 had the 7MGE N/A 3.0 straight-six engine. Starting in 1987 you could get them with either the same 7MGE N/A 3.0 or the 7M-GTE turbocharged 3.0.

The car is reliable IF it's taken care of...

Block test to check for combustion gases in your coolant would be a good place to start. Aside from that, check EVERYWHERE for a pretty bad oil leak.
How many miles on the engine? N/A or turbo...

Loosen slightly, then re-torque it in the proper sequence by the TSRM. This is after 5 or so heat-cycles. Call it insurance against BHG's, something we all should invest in.

The charcoal canister is part of your emissions control system, and it helps maintain a slight amount of pressure (2 lbs iirc) in your gas tank which assists your fuel pump. I wouldn't remove it any...

72 ft/lbs for stock bolts. The 58 ft/lb original spec is responsible for a lot of BHG's as it's simply too low for the GTE.

If this is a newly rebuilt engine (or you replaced the head gasket,...

Nope, no drain in the plug valley. The #3 gasket for it is mostly to keep large pieces of debris from falling into the plug wells, and any liquid which gets caught there stays there until it...

Okay, from the top...

First pic I'm not certain, think it's one of the sensors on the Tstat housing.

Second pic, green plug (there's two of them on turbo models) goes to a knock sensor. One...
