well it was the driver side switch contacts that was messing up. unfortunately the driver side switch isn't nearly as easy to take apart as the passenger side, so i couldn't clean the "anvils" on it....

that's some excellent info, but my switch doesn't work on passenger side nor drivers side for the passenger window. drivers side window works fine.
