well i've got my springs lowered 50mm and with good shocks handles like a dream... altho useability is a bit ruff on driveways lol
to disable tems just buy normal shocks and remove the tems...

some people change to coilovers... some change to just the normal supra shocks (non tems) others just buy replacement tems (Tokico Illumina II i believe)...

hey :) welcome to the forum

to get a strut bar for tems you can find one on ebay... you will have to remove the steel covers that are over the tems... unless you can fabricate up something to fit...
