I know I have a boost leak. I ordered a new hose. Would that cause it to cut out so violently?

one more thing

I pulled codes and it gave it me knock sensor, starter signal open or short, and I dont remember the third one but, it didnt seem like it was something that had enough power to do that.

So I just got an 88 7MGTE put in another vehicle, when I pulled it it ran great. Now it starts up fine but it won't rev up high enough to get into the turbo. It cuts out, and black really rich smoke...
