I had rthe same issue. I tried the following...

I tried the following which worked for me...

a) Check ALL Earthing points
b) Ignition timing needs to be correct or the engine wont start.

It takes time but its worth...

Have you tried checking the fuel pump relay and also have you made sure that there are no loose connections etc ...???

I was actually looking on ebay to see what the price of a sheet of foam gasket costs.

Its not that expensive compared to buying it from Toyota.

I think Toyota do EACH side gasket for around...

Rear Brake Light seal

Can anyone help me please..

I need a pair of seals / gaskets for the rear brake light cluster.

The toyota part number is - 8156414610

Has anyone had any luck by making their own ???

cps issue

I found on my car even with the crank shaft pulley and cam shaft pulleys aligned up my car would not start correctly.
I played around with the CPS and still nothing.

i have checked my CPS and its not leaking at all. The gears are in good condition also.
I dont think i need to touch the CPS in anyway. After all it was working fine before the head...

CPS out by 180 degrees

Just a quick question with my car.

The thing with my car is that i have set the crank shaft pulley to zero mark and made sure that it is on TDC.

Cam shafts are aligned to the mark on the back...

Actually you are right about using the stick in cyclinder 1 method to check TDC, you could be looking at something that is 180 degrees out and that wont work will it.

So, using this stick method...

I normally use that method that you told me to find TDC, spark plug 1 out, insert...

Hi Bill, Yes i read that also about the strobe light being applied to ignition lead 6.

The problem that i have is that the car starts but the idle is very rough. So, i need to recheck the ignition...

i need some advice on the sequence that the ignition leads go.

Can anyone tell me what cyclinder the leads go from the ignition packs...?

example...

if looking at the coil packs...
