ha! I work for dominos right now! and i have an 88 N/A targa! i recently blew the head gasket i think. and all cause my auto transmission doesn't shift at red line so I'm stuch at 110 and redlining unless i come down a small slope to force it past red line and get the auto to shift into 5. it feels soo lame and all that white smoke ain't a pretty sight to come to your car

not a supra but the same drivetrain. got my '87 cressida up to 202 kph (125.5 mph). nearly stock except the intake and cone filter.

not bad for a 20 year old car with the aerodynamics of a brick. still felt like it was driving on clouds.

wingshooter92 08-26-2008 01:56 AM

125

i just got a 89 turbo wing and loaded any way this kid had an lancer and i had 2 friends with me windows down top off radio cranked he pulled beside me we were running 55 and had a mile of flat road to go i hammered it hit 100 so quick the wind rushing through the guy in the back said i had him by 10 length at 200 ft so i hit 125mph and backed out of it still had 3000 till red line i dont want to push it all the way

Supra Greg 10-20-2008 12:03 AM

Anyone know the land speed record for a MKIII ?
That is one thing i would love to try.....

curtains 05-17-2009 04:20 PM

wow i'm surprised not many ppl (compared to what i expected) in this thread have done more than 130 in a supra, cause i mean i've taken mothers corolla (7a-fe) off the clock (220km/hr = 136.7Miles/hr according to google)) when i was younger cause that was the cool thing to do back then... took a real long time but it got off the clock, and prob wasn't any good for the engine, but everyone i know seems to do it with any car (take it off the clock, or at least try) i guess thats what you do when your young and stupid. I've done it with my levin (4a-ge) and soarer (1jz-gte) (both with a 180 (111.8miles) speedo).

I'd get that fixed A.S.A.P, that's so hard on your engine and tranny. No wonder your head gasket is gone. The automatic supra's have 4 speeds, not 5...

Ive been up to 120, but startd to run out of road, had room to go tho. I'm goin try for 150, theres a lot back roads around where I live that never have traffic on 'em.

Get that thing to the track. I thought I was driving fast sometimes on the street...until I actually started going to tracks. That is where you can REALLY go fast and you'll realize what you've been doing on the street is child's play. The best thing though is tracks are usually a lot safer for you and your car. It will be the funnest thing you've ever done...trust me.

Find a local club that does track days...start here for you...http://www.midohio.com/

87mk111 08-25-2009 05:06 PM

I was looking into MidOhio, buts its expensive. I think Nelson's Ledges is cheaper. I have run autocross before and thats really fun.

I run out here in CA at Willow Springs and Fontana California Speedway. Laguna Seca is on the schedule but I have not had a chance at that yet...can't wait. I go through a club, http://www.speedventures.com/ which makes all the arrangements. They are not directly affiliated with these tracks, they just put together the private events so with a group rate the cost is reasonable...between 150 and 400 a day depending on the track. Best money I ever spent.

Look for a similar club in your area.

87mk111 08-25-2009 05:31 PM

I know Nelson's Ledges does amateur events in September that are like 50 bucks for a day, so I'm gonna try and do that.

The biggest thing to remember when you’re on track…

If you have NO FEAR…you’re not driving fast enough!

87mk111 08-25-2009 06:05 PM

I guess Iv'e never driven fast enough then...

Sounds like it. But don't go for that pucker factor on the street.

Once you get on a proper track you'll understand.

munchie 09-11-2009 07:45 PM

my brother had a 90 supra turbo that is an automatic stock. he went 160mph with it and it just keep on churping on the gauge. that sh!t was fukcing crazy. So that made me get a supra too I have an 89 turbo right now haven't beat it yet still need more work to it before i do anything with it.

87mk111 09-22-2009 02:44 PM

Well, I got mine up to 130 on the highway last week while racing some riced out Grand Am.

97SupraTT 09-22-2009 04:39 PM

Iv been 145mph on my 02 R6:rofl:, Living in Germany makes it legal too. Just bought my Supra and it isn't getting shipped over here since i come back in 8 months so i will have a updated speed when i finally get to drive it.

suicidal 12-24-2009 02:31 PM

where abouts are you in germany. i just left there from a tour. anyways i have been 135 in a stock 89 n/a. took awhile but got it.

Sellenzz 05-07-2010 01:54 AM

140 mph not even a straight road either. Once your in tune with the car you realize its drifting capability as well. I can slide 20mph corners at about 95. Thats why I love my supra, you think a roller coaster is bad ass take a ride with me. Not one scratch on my car just a shot turbo. I miss all the attention I got in it.

speedfiend 08-26-2010 06:18 AM

132 mph, corrected, in my 88 N/A yesterday.
The P/O put a nice set of 225/60/16's on so my speedo is like 8% off.
My all time fastest, 16 years ago in a '93 zinc chromate yellow TT RX-7.
160 mph after doing a major service and 4 new tires to a trade in for a Mazda dealer, that was intense!
I had the adrenaline shakes afterwards, like the junkie that I am... :gotnos:

*update* after replacing the plugs & the fuel filter, tweaking the A/F meter and adjusting the WOT setting of the throttle plate it pulled
145mph @ 6000rpm... :eek2:

tuner92 04-25-2011 10:04 PM

160 mph no pics tho

on another supra forum theres a thread like this alot of ppl have gone 170 an 180
