Yeah! i got a running auto 87 supra for only $4000, but i wanna find out if theres any way i could convert it to a manual. Any ideas????
 |
You gota get a whole new Transmission, install a manual type clutch, and a pedal. that's a lot of money and work you got in front of you.
|
depending on where you are and the availability of manual supras in your area this can be done
have you got a turbo or non turbo? you can get either an r154 or w58 from another mk3 supra and be able to do a straight swap.. the only thing you need to do i believe is rewire the reverse light switch which is from the auto trans loom so you need manual gearbox from mk3 supra pedal box new clutch kit and away ya go ;) |
It's a non-turbo....& i live in sydney. Can yous tell me a place where i can find this stuff????
|
well a W series box should be fairly easy for you to find
try your local wreckers see if they have supras in there... you can use any manual... 1gge = w55, 1ggte = w58, 7mge = w58, 7mgte = r154 & 1jzgte = r154 unfortunately i don't live in aussie so you'll have to just ring ur local wreckers and parts suppliers good luck finding the stuff :) |
everything gunnersmate_2nd_class said was true! you shouldn't have gotten it on auto BUT YOU GOT 87 SUPRA FOR ONLY 4 GRAND!! THATS BOMB ASS!!does that person have any more supra's?? lol
|
^ no it doesn't need to be a new trannie, no it isn't alot of work if you know what you are doing and have the resources available,
all he needs to do is get a manual driveshaft, manual bellhousing and gearbox, pedal box, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and clutch line which joins the master and slave cylinder together... just go to a junkyard and pull all these pieces off and simply swap them to the exact same place, jumper the neutral start switch which you will find info on in the tsrm and it will go brrm brrm ;) in australia this is a very good price from what i can tell for a mk3 supra as they average between 8-10k even more |
what would be the conversion of 8-10k in australia to US
|
8 to 10k in australian is like 6 and a half us dollars, Ithink
