If you want to be fair you must equivocate cost/hp to hp/liter efficiency. Which the supra wins hands down. But go ahead and buy your 70,000 dollar car. I will meet you at the track. We will see who wins. And then after you hand over your pink slip I will be 70,000dollars richer even though I warned you. Im sorry but in my opinion comparing a bmw to a supra is just stupidity. Look at the cars that are making impressive numbers at the track. However, if you are that stuck on the e46 then its your loss.

Just a side note I raced a e46 on the freeway with my 96 saturn sc2 with about 200whp and just incinerated it all day. BMW's are just bad whack jobs. Now if you really want a nice german performance car go with porsche.

http://www.theautochannel.com/vehicl.../solo0049.html hmm that shows that the sc2 hasa topspeed of 99, NICE

I tell you what. I can assure you it goes far past 99mph. I was hitting a buck 40 on the 5 South here in so cal in camp pendleton area. By that time I couldnt even see the BMW's lights. Also depending on the tranny setup and motor. Now the SOHC with a MP2 tranny auto will go about 105 I beleive but a manual MP2 with a DOHC is the best setup which I have with a quaife diff. A matter of fact if you dont beleive me I can send you a link of my saturn from cardomain.

Stock ones make around 124hp with 100tq @ 2300pds. After I got done with my first setup making around 200whp @ 2100pds I can assure you it was one very quick car. When you can beat SS or Z28 camaros on the freeway in a 4banger you are considered to be very fast. haha And e46's cant even touch camaros on the freeway.

SupraMan1784 12-21-2005 02:59 PM

wut did u do to that saturn? also are u running the ecotec motor in that? my friend has teh new ion...its quick, but u can tell it loses power towards the top of the powerband, that was when it was stock, once he opened up the flow via intake and exhaust and some headers he got more of a kick up top

No ecotecs came in the ION. I have the SC series. The stock motors are 1.9L the ecotecs are 2.2L. I left the motor stock and turboed it with a t3/t4 48 A/R. It was a cheap turbo kit and a cheap setup but it worked. Now this is what I am doing. The pics arent all up yet but the text is.

There will tell you everything. The gauges alone are over 2grand. haha

SupraMan1784 12-21-2005 07:58 PM

no no hahaha i dint say the new ions had the ecotec...i was just wondering if yours had it...hahaha maybe my post wasnt clear...but one question, why spend all the money on a saturn? i mean thats a crazy amount of equipment on a helluva sleeper...but my question is why? hahaha pretend im a nub

O no problem. Well its more of a sentimental value mixed in with potential. It was my first car I ever owned. And when it was stock it suprised me very much on how fast it is. And I decided since it gave me such good performance that I would also appreciate it by fixing her up to be insanely nice and fast. And not to mention its never been done before on a saturn like mine. So it will literally be the first.

Are you sure a e46 cant touch a camaro? Not really into camaros but sad to say I have a 1986 :-/

Well 86 camaros are slow considering i beat one in my stock satty. I am talking about the newer ones. The ones making around 300whp. I have no doubt an e46 can beat a 86.

Greglatta 01-13-2006 02:12 AM

haha, sad to bring this topic up again but the us version m3 has a 3.0 making 240 that means that it has more hp/L then the n/a supra, If Im reading this article correctly http://www.supercars.net/cars/2406.html bottom of page, they dont down chip, they have an entire us engine

Let's keep threads on-topic in this forum. Please take conversations that are not Supra related to Off-Topic.

joel w 01-13-2006 04:55 PM

again, wtf?? this threads been OT for a while now?? so what?

Sounds like you'd suggest this thread best belongs in the Off-Topic forum? If so, (fwiw) I'm sure a moderator would consider your request.

joel w 01-13-2006 05:11 PM

i does not matter to me, i was just wondering why you cared since your first post in it was to hammer on skilmatic?

Who? I was simply trying to keep things on topic. Imo questions like "so what kind of car are you modding these days?" belong in off-topic.

joel w 01-13-2006 05:36 PM

well i suppose your correct, but i have never heard of anyone complaining about anything being "off topic" in this forum till now? ive never seen a thread deleated or closed and only a few threads moved, i must have missed the ban thing? thanks..

I suppose it's up to all of us - members, moderators, and perhaps even the sponsors of this site if we want work towards keeping it somewhat organized, or let it collapse into chaos...

SKILMATIC 01-13-2006 05:53 PM

I IMO think that my post of no more than a dozen words isN'T going to create chaos or calamity in this forum. Just like its not going to create harmony.

I IMO beleive that your post was none other than an instigation towards me just as you do in every thread I post in. You like to follow me around flaming me and badgering me every chance you get for nonchalant reasons.

I dont think my questions towards gregletta is going to make this forum have a melt down since my question is only formed to get a simple answer.

Also fyi pwpanas, I did pm gregletta with the same question prior it seems he doesn't answer his mailbox so therefore I posted. If I have done something seriously wrong here IYO then maybe you need to pm me about it instead of going OFF TOPIC in this very thread making fallable accusations.

Furthermore,I sought that it was rediculous to create a thread in the off topic portion just because I wanted to ask gregletta a simple question. A simple post in a thread that was congenial to the matter is much easier IMO.

Please keep your questions in this forum at least somewhat Supra-related. I don't think that's too much to ask.

How about you only post when you can keep your posts on-topic and accurate? ...then no one will have to keep an eye on you.

Jesus christ man! No one should be keeping an eye on no one for that is the mods job. Last time I checked you weren't one and for obvious reasons.

If a baby sitting job is what you are interested in then let me educate you that the forum isn't the place for it.

I am sure everyone here appreciates you countless frail attempts to get me booted on the indictment of "off topic" posts, but I am sure everyone would appreciate it even more if you would let the mods do their jobs and stop undermining them. I am sure the mods can take care of themselves and their own forum without you undermining their efforts. They have been doing so long before you got here, so I am sure they can still handle it.

I mean if we all acted like mods then this forum IMO would be chaotic! Get the picture?

I do. You refuse to keep this thread on-topic...that much is clear. As a member of this forum, I asked if you'd keep your posts on topic. Why is that so hard for you?

And what did I and everyone else tell you? Can you remember that?

And don't you find it odd that no one else is chanting your same perception? Maybe you need to ask yourself "am I really doing the right thing and whats necassary?"

I hope to think that you will find very simple answers to that question.

If I am sooooo "off topic" then why dont we let the mods discretion handle this matter shall we? Or do you think for some apparent reason their discretion isn't good enough for you?

What say you?

Umm.. please stay on topic pwpanas! I would appreciate it if you would stop posting things that weren't on topic. And stop posting falsifications

This thread is about supra or bmw's.

I think this forum will agree with me that you need to take this somewhere else cause your personal vendetta against me is not going to help gregletta decide whethor or not a BMW is better than a mkiv.

Thank you gregletta. Thanks for shining your light in his dark room. I am sure the forum will be very happy once he understands to control himself.

Now to get back on topic. Now the 97 NA mkiv has a 3.0L that makes about 220hp. The 97 BMW M3 is actually a 3.2L that makes around 240hp. So in essence it is about the same hp/liter ratio. Now I will admit that the BMW is a more of a ritzier car, but the supra can be just as luxurious. I do think the handling of the M3 stock is a little better than the mkiv but with a few mods to the mkiv the handling will be better. Now the handling overall as far as full modded supra vs. full modded m3 the supra will be a better handler.

I'm sorry you don't think staying on topic in a technical, vehicle model-year-specific forum is important... Speaking for myself at the very least, I know you're not the only person that feels that way.

You actually do speak for yourself. PLus staying on topic has many definitions and can be percepted many different ways. Just because your perception may be different from the rest of the forums doesn't make it right.

It's clear you'd prefer if all forums had the same rules as 'off-topic'.

suprra_girl 01-13-2006 11:01 PM

ok imho chit chat could have been taken to pm but it's not an absolute crime to ask someone bout other mods they're doing/done/etc

i consider this argument/difference of opinion finished

i personally apologise for the extra hiff huff in your thread Greglatta

I think im still confusing you on this topic, the us edition m3 runs a different engine, a 3.0L that makes 240hp.
