Cadillac Engine

Hey guys, i currently have a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado with a NorthstarV32 3.8 Liter V8 in it. I was on the interstate driving back to college and it over heated, i took it in to find that i had blown a head gasket. What i was wondering is would it be smarter to find a new engine since the overheating had already done damage to the entire engine, or just get the head gasket repaired. If you think a new engine is the way to go, I have no idea where to start looking so if you have any ideas let me know and it's greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot, Cusey.

Jus so you know, that's gonna costs you a lot of money either to fix it or to replace the engine, expensive enough already but made more expensive jus bcuz its a freakin cadillac,
My 97 catera suffered a bhg too and they wanted to much for it, and wasn't even worth fixing,
Jus get another car dude, with gas prices today, you don't need to b rolling around with a northstar engine

I know it would be spendy, the mechanic said that it would be around 1800 to fix the head gasket and probably cheaper to buy a new engine and have it dropped in.

well since i can't afford a supra yet, any ideas for cars? I live in South Dakota so it needs to handle the snow. I'd like it to be decently fast.

i would definately have the headgasket fixed it would be much cheaper than replacing the engine for sure. if your caddies in good shape i would keep it the hold there value good.

alright, thanks for the input guys. I found a family friend who can fix the Head Gasket for $400 so that should hold decently until i can round up some money. About that impreza, when you say older, are you talking like 2000 or older than that?

yup , i think they are a 97 or older,
i like the older body better
i actually wanted to get the 22b sti, i like its cuz its a 2dr
not like the new ones, which only comes in a 4dr trim

You should take it to mechanics, they will help you.
