clutch pedal to the floor

I have looked at the search forums and did not find this. but the supra that I have the clutch pedal stays to the floor and does not come back up, but you can push it up and down but will stay in the position what could be wrong.

I have heard it could be the slave cylinder. and also the clutch resivor is full please help

quite simple once you've done it. any more questions, just fire away

also if you plan on being a regular member, you may wanna post what you have in your sig before mr.nickleye comes around... just stuff like what year your car is, engine( na/turbo), tranny(m/t or a/t), targa top/hard top, mods. that kind of stuff, its so we know what you have so we dont have to ask you, this helps us help you quicker.

Chances are, there is air in the lines. Just bleed the clutch and you should be good to go. Check all the lines to make sure there are no cracks in the lines.

sorry about that kind of new to do forums. I am going to bleed them tommorow, but 2 question. 1st so it might not need a new clutch. 2nd can I post threads on any part or is there a certain part for higher members.

and thanks alot for every ones help

Post anywhere that fits your car and need, but not in the FAQs section.

Did the pedal work fine, and then one day it just went to the floor and would not return up ??

That situation won't just be air in the line. Do you see any fluid coming from the slave cyl (area)?

If so, you may have a leak in it. If no fluid on the ground, then perhaps the master cylinder internal seal went bad.

no I bought the car from a friend and I have had it for about 2 weeks and when I got it the pedal was just stuck to the floor. I was under it today and I dont see any leaks. but the clutch resivor is full of fluid if it is the master cylinder is there a way to fix it or dyonosis it to be the seal and if it is the seal do you need to replace the whole master cylinder

OH....

If it were mine.....

I would attempt to bleed it out first.

If that failed to repair it, I would try to SEE into the pressure plate, throw out bearing area to determine if the arm and such all looked normal.

If so, then I would likely replace the master cyl. with a reman unit from Carquest. Cost between $65-$130.

Rebuild kits are $22-$42. If you KNOW how.

Slaves cost $18-$64. Kits $10-$18

I tried to bleed it but the clutch pedal doest have any presure in the pedal to push nothing out is there another way to bleed it the pedal just drops and locks to the floor, but I did find one more thing the master cylinder was leaking but there is still a lot of fluid in the resivor is this posible for the master cylinder to leak but still a lot in the resivor. and should I replace the master cylinder and the slave cylinder together

dcrusupra 05-02-2007 12:19 AM

Thats what the clutch pedal does. You have to lift it from the floor manually. It takes a while for it to actually come back. And yes it is a good idea to replace both the clutch master and slave cylinders.

j3pz 05-02-2007 12:35 AM

i had to manually do it for a couple of minutes to feel any pressure. i actually only felt the pressure when i was going so fast i felt i was jacking the pedal off. i actually bought a master cylinder, then i tried to rebleed and fixed the problem, so now i have a new one that isnt needed... yet...
