Hey Mr.Nickleye,

If you read the posts below you may remember the problem I was having with my coolant temperature sensor. You were correct, the one I bought was flawed. I replaced it and everything is running pretty good. I just would like to slightly adjust the idle. Can this be done with the turn of a screw, or is it all electronic? I appreciate the help, thanks.

I know you have done this several times but after fitting your new temp sender unit did you reset the ECU ? may be worth disconnecting the battery or puling the ECU fuse for a few minutes, this will reset the ECU to factory settings. The other possibility is the timing could be slightly out, but jugging by the history of your problem I would say it’s ECU related.

Hey Bill

Yes, I pulled the ECU 15 fuse and have driven around and raced the engine a little and sometimes it will go down to 700, but usually remains at 1000. Can I adjust the idle slightly with a screw driver? You have a Great New Year Also.

Lots of info in the links below but nothing positive, as your problem started with the temp sender unit I still think the ECU is receiving the wrong info or needs more time to settle down. Some mention of an idle adjusting screw but the forum thread comes to a dead end.

Thanks Bill UK

Its raining like hell here today but I got under the hood anyway. The new coolant temp sensor works well, and I pulled the ECU fuse after installation. I still was idling at 1,000 rpms which I wanted to get down a little. I turned the idle screw (actually it's a hex nut - 8mm) and now have it idling at 800 rpms. That's good enough for me. If it gives me more problems, well than I'll have more research to do, huh. Thank you so much for all your help for your American cousin. Long Live the Queen!
