No More Gurgle

This is pretty involved. I had to replace my "coolant temperature sensor" (It was broke in half), after my check engine light came on and I followed the possible causes. The one I bought was obviously the wrong type because it made my engine idle at 2400 rpm's. It also co-incided with the gurgling sound. I replaced the sensor with a new one yesterday and no more gurgle. The idle dropped down to 1000. Can I mechanicaly adjust the idle, as I would like to get it down to about 800 rpms. at the end of the linkage I see a screw, and when I pull the linkage the screw mechanism seperated from what looks like a rubber boot. Is this the idle screw? If it is, which way do I turn it to set idle lower, clockwise, or counter-clockwise. For more info, check threads named "coolant temperature sensor". Mr.Nickleye, you were right, the sensor I bought was not working correcctly. If anybody can follow this, please help. No more gurgle problem, I would just like to slightly adjust the idle. I have an 89 N/A and a pic would be great.

Thanks,

Scruffboy
