Tire size?

Anyone out there know what the biggest size tires can be put on an 1987 supra? i wanted to go with 245 55 16s but i dont know if that is to big for stock rims. what you all think? and what would happen if i put a lower wall on it? like a 50? how would that change the handling of the car?

The stock/original wheel tire combo for your car was 225/50/16.
225=8.86"
245=9.65"
You would need to ask your tire dealer if 245's will fit on your stock rims...I think they will.
The 50 profile is no problem BUT tire size by itself doesn't mean squat for handling. You need to consider sidewall stiffness, tread type, rubber, etc.

If it's just a daily driver with no real performance issues go to your local tire and wheel place and they can tell you what will fit. You can usually get some good tire/wheel packages from them on sale to upgrade from those ugly stock wheels. I went to 235/45/17 on my car. All 4 wheels/tires about US$1,000.00.
The tires suck on a road course track but most street tires do.

I may get a seperate set of track wheels/tires...same size in front with Toyo RA1'a, and 255/45/18 on rear.

(my car is lowered so 17" by themselves wont look like this.)

Yes, that's my car and that is how it looks now with 17" wheels and lowered with TEIN Flex. I can't go any lower or it bottoms out in the wheel wells on bumps in the front or under heavy breaking into tight turns on track, even on the stiffest settings. You can tell however I can go a little bigger and wider in back for better grip. That's my plan.

What I said was, these are 17" wheels BUT it is also lowered so...just 17" wheels by themselves WONT give this same exact look.

Thanks for the complement!
