Coolant Temperature Sensor

I found out why my Check Engine light came on. (see posts below) Bill UK told me to pull the EFI 15, so I read up on that and found out it holds codes. I don’t own a diagnostic machine, but I started reading what the codes could be and started checking them off while under the hood. It didn’t take long to find what was wrong. The Coolant Temperature Sensor was broke, the plastic female end. I used some airplane glue to put it back together for now. From what I can see, it looks like it screws into the rear thermostat housing. Am I correct, or will I have to replace the whole rear thermo housing? Has anybody out there ever have this problem before.

Thanks,

Scruffboy

Got it fixed!

Forget the above post fellas, I found what I needed at autozone, and my luck they had it on sale (usually $45, on sale for $27). Once I saw the whole unit, I realized the whole thing screws out, sort of like an oxygen sensor. So the Check Engine light went out. I'm wondering though, is that code now stored in the ECU and need to be cleared, or did fixing it clear it out? Anybody know the answer?

Thanks,

Scruffboy

P.S. Thanks Bill UK, you pointed me in the right direction.
