I would say the reason most people advocate decking the block is to compensate for the increased height of the metal head gasket and maintain a good compression ratio.I could be wrong here ,but I don't see a standard gasket changing your compression enough to get worried about. 'Specialy since you didn't plan on pulling the block in the first place ,I don't think the gains outweigh the effort.
