Default New To Toyota HELP!!!!

Hey fellas I'm new to the toyota thing I was a big RX-7 guy, well still is but I would like to try something new. I'm thinking about getting a 2000 Lexus SC300 and I want to do a swap: Which engine is better a 1JZ or 2JZ. I'm not looking to make it a track car just want to have a little power here and there. Just really would like to know how these motor holds up when they are not being push. I live in NY so it wouldn't be a everyday drive because we have the subway and sometimes no matter how fast your car is the train ends up being fastest.
