i got a dilemma
here's the deal
i will be pickin up my car in a few days i cant b more exited than i am right now but here's me dilemma i wanna buy a little sumething extra for the car its either http://b.im.craigslist.org/WT/eP/7JA...MG7pjYlcxI.jpg this seats which costs #350 http://d.im.craigslist.org/BS/sk/r6k...8CeereFAx4.jpg these subs which are a freakin bargain at 160 and a 4500 watt amp which is another bargain at 150 so 310, and these things are not gonna last for long or i go get my intake/ic hardpipes for 400? help me out here will ya |
you dont really need the racing seats,
the subs your gonnna need a wiring kit with 4 gauge wire if you want the max wattage to get to your subs.cost- $70, $50compassitor if you dont want to replace your alternator every two months, box $70-125, the subs are gonna be more expensive than you think. you can probably install them though... i would go with the ic hardpipes |
the thing is
these seats wont last for long and where do u find genuine racing seats for 350 a pair? the piping, the shop will be there for a long time and its not going anywhere and even if i get the seats i can get the pipes by the end of the month |
then go for the seats since you wont be able to buy them later
|
thats what i had in mind
and the subs i checkd them out them things are heavy im tryin to lose sum weight off my car |
What brand are the subs and the amp you want to buy?
|
im thinkin im gonna get a single 8" or 10" with quick connectors so i got some bump in the trunk, and keep the back seats and the trunk... hoping that will work
|
couldn't agree more with the weight issue i would difinetly swap out the stock supra seats they are way to heavy. but as for after market seats? if anything i like to keep things all toyota except performance parts.
i have a 89 7mgte i have the electronic driver seat and they suck. i plan on swapping out all seats including the rear for - 4 1997 celica buckets i figure with after market seats you still have to customize why not keep it economical and different. and i have had 97 celica buckets they are bitchin very firm not couchy |

i checkd the seats yesterday
turns out the jackass broke the harness and sliders for it dunt know how he did it but he did so, this is where im at now i have non-power seats in my other 88 supra how much weigh diffrence does the non-power and the power seats have? and would i be able to jus switch seats for my new car? the old car : 88 n/a supra non-power seats the new car : 87 turbo supra power seats |
i say take them both out... weigh them both... post your results... and ill get back to you with your answer
|
alright then,
you know this will be perfect cuz i can weigh both at the same time and everybody can have sum reference with this |
I had a dilemma once. It caused me so much concern, that I sold it and bought a Supra !
|
nice,,,
but i got a few more sleepless nights waiting for my supra cuz it wasnt ready last saturday |
It's always a hard choice when trying to make your daily driver a race car. Comford/good music/sound vs. light weight and faster. If you get big heavy subs try and make them easily removable for those track days or street races. (I always recommend track over street for TRUE racing...safer too but I'm old)I have the power original Supra seats and I like them. May be heavier than a true race seat but can really snug up for racing or get cushy for daily casual drives. I don't see myself removing and weighing for you...sorry...no time.
If you ever get to the track you can always remove the subs and spare tire easily. If you really are serious take out the back seats and passenger seat. Be prepared for the lighter rear end...it will handle a little different. My vote: Go for the Supra power driver seat, intake and pipes, TEIN Flex coilovers and while you need to remove the back seat for the TEIN install, leave it out. Do some cool custom easily removable sub set-up in place of that back seat. (only really really small people can sit back there anyway). The TEIN Flex has an optional electronic damper adjustment you can work from inside the car so you can crank it stiffer or cushy. All it takes is money and time. |
thats what basically is the best option for me
im gonna take the backseat out like i did with my first supra use that space between the rear shocks insde the car to mount the subs and the amp, where the seats use to belong the tein flexes tho, they dont quite lower the car as much as i want ( a full 2" drop) but the adjustability is beautiful i still got to think about it tho i might jus go with a simple adjustable coilover system doesnt need to b from the cockpit cuz when it comes to my car, i got all the time in the world and i plan to only have one seat in the car since my girl got mad that i bought my car instead of the damn engagement ring that she wanted so she's out of the picture now lol |
I run 17" wheels right now and TEIN flex will lower the car right on top of the tires if you want. I think the specs you read on them are wrong for the Supra. When I first put them on I adjusted them about 10 turns higher than the lowest setting and when I took the car off the jack it actually DID sit wheel well ON the rubber. Had to re-adjust to raise it up. Then when I got on track, diving into a 10 degree banked turn under heavy breaking it would rub on the top of the wheel wells so raised it up 4 more turns. Still got a brief rub.
I could go a little lower in back but I will probably go 18" and a little wider back there so I'll wait and see how that works. http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...AfterTEIN2.jpg http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...aRaceReady.jpg |
if im gonna buy rims, i think im jus gonna buy sum 17's
i really dont like lo-pro tires that much and the paintjob that i did with the stock sawblades wasnt that bad so i wont be getting rims for a while see, i would love to do the racing that ur involved in but there's jus nothing close to me and theyre expensive and drag racing is the most available but a track day wont be too bad i can go as fast as i can, and no cops lol and i know about the handling issues with lightnin the rear thats why i thought maybe the subs can balance the weight loss a little bit? but either ways, im a drifter when i can, so it does make it easier to swing the rear with the car being front-biased |
TEIN makes a less expensive street coilover for our cars. I actually had a hard time finding much choice for coilovers to fit our cars. Good luck.
And remember...if you have NO FEAR...you're not going fast enough. |
oh trust me, i kno
i did the top speed 140 mph on my cadillac and my hands were sweating buckets |
buckets? that doesn't sound like no fear to me...
i cruise at 140... seriously. |
