drive shaft
i was wondering how to take the driveshaft out without using a plasma cutter.
There are 4 bolts holding it to the differential and 2 holding it in the middle. You'll probably need to pound on it with a rubber mallet or something to get it loose. But once you get the differential side of the driveshaft down, it'll just slide out of the transmission.
and one more question. what are u joints? what do they look like?
It's where the 2 bolts are in the middle.

a little off topic. just got a cluster and it has tems on it but i dont have tems and the trans i just bought has abs but i dont have abs will this be a problem when im putting them in?
i just took apart my drive shaft tonight to replace my hanger bear only to find that one of my u joints is stiff as hell. not only that one of the past owners let the diff run dry:mad:. looks like a diff rebuild lies in the future for me.
that sucks:mad:

alright well im taking off the drive shaft but how do i turn the shaft to get to the other bolts? and does anyone have any good ideas to take off all these tight rusted bolts other then wd40
Put it in neutral and turn the driveshaft by hand to the point it needs to be, then either put the e-brake up or put it back in gear, or park. Put some muscle into it. They are knuckle-buster nuts. Pull on the wrench, kick it, punch it, do whatever. It'll come loose eventually.

if you have done so already, jack up the rear end unless you think you have like 200lb/ft in your arms...
its not too hard... its like every other bolt on the bucket... use some mmmphhh |
